Summary

Prepare and observe bacterial slides with a virtual microscope developed for UNED Costa Rica. The laboratory uses real microscope images and follows the same guided workflow as Plant Tissues.

What you can do

• Choose among seven complete bacterial preparations.
• Place the slide, adjust focus and illumination, and change objective magnification.
• Compare diplococci, tetrads, streptococci, staphylococci, bacilli and vibrios at 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x.
• Download the current micrograph for later analysis.

Learning objectives

• Recognize common bacterial morphologies and arrangements.
• Relate microscope magnification to the detail visible in a preparation.
• Practice systematic observation and comparison using real evidence.
